Vegan NSW - Creating a world where animals are free from human exploitation & harm

Being vegan is actually very simple - it’s just treating our fellow animals with the same respect we want for ourselves.

  • It’s recognising that they are individuals in their own right, that own their own bodies and lives.

  • It’s not thinking of them as property, or existing for the benefit others.

  • It’s treating them as we want to be treated.

Vegans avoid use of all products that involve animal use and exploitation.

Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practical, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals. (The Vegan Society, United Kingdom).

Being vegan has many benefits, including for

  • our fellow animals,

  • the planet we all share,

  • food access across the globe,

  • how well we feel our behaviour is aligned with common values, such as caring for animals.

A balanced vegan diet is healthy at any stage of the human life cycle, and also has likely health benefits for ourselves, and those we care about.
